How Often Should You Mask?

Masks are probably one of the steps we look forward to the most when it comes to our skincare regime. It’s fun to use-- you can’t help but take the silliest (or fiercest, however you prefer your photos) selfies when you’re wearing them. At the same time you get to treat your skin to an extra boost of good nutrients. But, it is also important to know how often we should put on our favorite face masks to get the best results.

What are the different kinds of masks?

Masks come in all different formulas and applications. Korean face sheets contain generous amounts of vitamins and minerals for the skin and are to be removed for a certain amount of time ranging from 15-20 minutes. Gelatin types are those that are applied on the skin and dries up to peel easily in a few minutes, as well as masks that are meant to be washed off.

How often should I use a face mask?

The amount of times per week that you should use a face mask purely depends on the type of mask and also what your skin needs. Here’s when you can use face masks depending on your skin type:

Dry Skin

Gentle hydrating masks are subtle and are mostly concentrated with water, so it’s safe to use on a daily basis since it is less likely that they are to irritate the skin. Try out Ariul Wheat and Celery Mask for ultimate moisture.

Dull Skin

Masks for brightening the face like our Ariul 7 Days Lemon Mask are effective and packed with potent ingredients that brighten and do wonders for the skin. While this is great, brightening / dark spot correcting ingredients can be irritating for sensitive skin, so it’s not best to use everyday. Every other or two days is fine, however!

Clay masks-- our Isntree Real Mugwort Clay Mask, for example-- are best for oily skin since they effectively pull oil and dirt from clogged pores. If used daily, it can dry out the skin too much which may cause your skin to overproduce oil. Find the right balance by using this at most, three times a week. Tip: Clay masks are also effective as overnight spot treatments on pimples!

Sensitive Skin

Avoid using masks with fragrances and opt for hydrating masks instead that provide both moisture and calming effects to the skin. Like those for dry or irritated skin, these can be used regularly or as much as you desire. The Isntree Real Rose Calming Mask is perfect for soothing the skin!
