What it does

Our Cortisone Injections contain corticosteroids that are injected directly on skin lesions like acne and keloids using a very fine needle. The corticosteroids then actively work to lessen swelling and pain normally associated with cystic acne and nodules, while reducing the tendency to overproduce collagen that normally cause scarring.

Cortisone shots are also great for those struggling with scarring and healing keloids as it can effectively reduce and soften these lesions

Why you’ll love it

When spot treating and topical solutions won’t cut it, getting a Cortisone Injection is the fastest, most effective way to effectively and greatly reduce swelling and inflammation— especially for cystic and nodular acne. No need to worry about those standout angry, red bumps when you have upcoming important events or occasions, as this significantly eases and soothes acne within 24 to 48 hours of your procedure.

If you have had past surgeries or scars that have healed into keloids and been bothering you, our Cortisone Injection is the non-surgical way to address them, as it can dissolve the collagen fibers and effectively reduce the size of these lesions for smoother, even skin.

This Enhancement is administered strictly by Philippine Dermatological Society-certified doctors.t and common warts, a closer look at your skin with skin experts might reveal you may have to opt for Hyfrecator instead.

 Frequently Asked Questions

What are Cortisone Injections?

Cortisone Injection is a quick and easy way to effectively reduce the swelling, inflammation and scarring for cystic acne, pimples and keloids through injecting corticosteroid directly to these lesions.

What can Cortisone Injections do for me?

Cortisone Injection is the solution for those who want to quickly, safely and effectively reduce the redness, swelling and inflammation of acne. It also effectively minimizes the tendency for acne to scar and come back to the same area within two days of your procedure.

These injectables are also an effective way to smoothen and flatten out keloids as it breaks down the overproduction of collagen fibers that cause raised scars & lesions with the consistent, recommended sessions needed.

What type of pimples can Cortisone Injections effectively target?

Cortisone Injections are highly effective for pimples that are usually deep, red, and painful— or what we normally classify as cystic, inflammatory and nodular pimples. Cortisone Injections are also perfect for those throbbing, red bumps that doesn’t seem to break the surface of the skin.

We don’t recommend these injections for removing whiteheads and blackheads as these can be more efficiently and globally targeted by decongesting, cleansing facials.

Are Cortisone Injections safe?

Yes, Cortisone Injections are safe. Corticosteroids used for pimples and keloids are diluted and optimized to specifically address swelling, inflammation and size reduction.

Who will do my Cortisone Injection procedure?

All consultations and procedures for our Cortisone Injections are exclusively done by board-certified dermatologists.

What can the Basic Skin Prep do for me?

The Basic Skin Prep is done by gently but thoroughly wiping the area of your face to ensure we’re safely injecting the corticosteroid shot on cystic acne and keloids.

Because keloids often require a higher dose of Cortisone Injections, we apply a topical anesthesia to guarantee your comfort when our board-certified dermatologist proceeds with the injection.

What service/s can I avail along with Cortisone Injection?

This depends on what you’re targeting for your session. If you’re coming in to target specifically prominent cystic acne, we recommend opting out of more powerful lasers that target acne for the day and opting for The Essential Facial which ensures that the rest of your face is thoroughly cleansed and decongested to avoid further breakouts. This will help you keep breakouts at bay and focus on the more prominent red, swelling bumps.

If you’re targeting keloids, you may opt to get any of our Laser Rituals, as long as it’s not targeting the face.

What does the treatment feel like?

Depending on your pain tolerance, you may feel a slight pinch or throbbing sensation when the corticosteroid shot is being injected directly on your acne and keloid.

How long will my Cortisone Injection procedure be?

Your overall Cortisone Injection procedure will last up to 30 minutes— with the actual procedure lasting only up to 10 minutes. Since we want to ensure your safety and comfort, we perform the Basic Skin Cleanse. Your session could look like:

For acne: Basic Skin Prep + Cortisone Injection Procedure (10 minutes) For keloids: Basic Skin Prep + Topical Anesthesia application (20 minutes) + Cortisone Injection Procedure (10 minutes)

What can I expect after my treatment?

Cortisone Injections allow you to enjoy virtually no downtime, but you may experience these rare but temporary effects:

  • Pain or tenderness on the treated area which will subside within the day
  • Mild swelling or redness that should resolve within a few days
  • Lightened or discolored skin on the treated area that will go away on its own without any treatment

Rare side effects may include allergic reactions to which we highly encourage being open to our board-certified dermatologists about any allergens during your assessment to find a better treatment plan that suits you.

How should I prepare before my Cortisone Injection session?

  1. Try to avoid blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or any anti-inflammatory drugs, at least 3-5 days before the treatment. This reduces the risk of bruising or bleeding.
  2. Skip excessive sun exposure or tanning for about a week prior to the treatment, as sunburned skin may be more sensitive and prone to complications.
  3. Avoid using exfoliants, retinoids, or any aggressive skincare products that might irritate your skin at least 2-3 days before the treatment.
  4. Try to refrain from drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before your treatment to minimize bruising.
  5. Be ready to discuss your medical history, including any allergies or past reactions to Cortisone Injections or similar treatments.

How quickly can I see results?

Depending on what you’re targeting and the size and severity, you can expect to see the best results through this:

For Pimples and Cystic Acne — visible improvement in swelling, inflammation and size within 24 to 48 hours that may require 1-2 sessions

For Keloids — improvement in size and noticeably flatter lesions within 3-6 sessions spaced every 4-6 weeks

How should I properly maintain my skin after the treatment?

Do’s:

  • Keep applying SPF 30 and keep out of direct sun exposure.
  • Continue with a gentle skincare routine.

Don’ts:

  • Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated areas for 24 hours.
  • Avoid applying harsh and exfoliating skincare products or astringents.
  • Skip the application of makeup for 12 to 24 hours after your procedure.

How long will my results last?

Cortisone Injections are an effective treatment for quickly reducing inflammation and the appearance of angry red bumps, such as inflamed acne or keloids. However, it’s important to understand that these injections are considered temporary fixes.

While they can provide rapid relief and visible improvement usually within 24 to 48 hours, their effects usually last for a limited time. The underlying causes of acne or keloids may still be present, which means that the pimples can reappear after some time.

For long-lasting results, it's crucial to combine cortisone injections with a comprehensive skincare routine tailored to your unique needs. By maintaining a consistent regimen and using the right aftercare products, you'll not only support your skin's health over time but also reduce the chances of future breakouts or keloids.
