Following a daily routine allows us to have structure and a North Star to ensure that everything we do goes toward the intention of setting the best versions of ourselves free.
However, we'd be lying if we said that it would all be smooth sailing from there. Part of the challenge of setting routines is following through with them— even when we've done it again and again. Even if it's beginning to feel repetitive or when the goal feels quite far.
Our solution? Sprinkling something for you to look forward to, if not always, but as often as possible. Here's how and where you can start:
One Small Act of Kindness
Whether it's to someone else or yourself, committing one act of kindness— no matter how small or big— can turn every routine into something extraordinary. Aside from the fulfilling feeling we receive from it, it gives us a sense of purpose and objective in our everyday lives to center it around doing at least one act of kindness. We suggest starting small— whether it's feeding a stray or ensuring your body receives the nutrition you need— and when you can, you can opt for bigger practices. Our only tip, try to step out of the box and see what other ways you can show kindness in your everyday life. It's not a one-size-fits-all thing!
Romanticize It
More of a mindset trick, this tip centers around seeing daily tasks and Rituals as something of beauty. Remember, you have more than enough power to turn bits and pieces of your everyday life into something beautiful— whether it's through looking at them in a different light or doing what you can to make them a lot more enjoyable. Remember, no way of doing so is ever silly, or mundane! Make playlists to go with every task or wear clothing that make you feel confident, the possibilities are endless.
Make Your Bed Sacred
For most of us, sleep doesn't always feel like rest and we're left bewildered as to why it never seems quite enough despite how long we stay in our beds. If that's the case, it's best to start making it a practice to make bedtime (and your bed sacred.) Start by making sure you make your bed is dedicated just for rest and sleep. That might mean having to avoid eating or working in bed, but trust us when we say that when you strictly associate your bed with rest, the easier it is to feel more restful there. Additionally, setting a wind-down time to set everything down for bed can help improve your sleeping habits.
It Takes Commitment
Making your everyday routines magical takes intention and commitment. Although moments in life naturally occur that make us think it’s beautiful, it also takes action on part on making it so. Try to remember your power in adding magic to your life. Wield it, and see where it takes you.
