Come Into Focus: Three Easy Ways We're Staying In Progress

Progress means coming in— and out of focus. Here’s what we’re doing when we reach those points.

We've all had times when we can't seem to keep our minds on one track.

Feeling stuck in a rut or out of focus could make us feel disheartened. Our initial thoughts often go to a negative space where we think we've completely fallen out of the streak of 'doing good.' Often, we feel discouraged by the idea that we have to start all over again, and how we view our progress in total gets affected.

However, part of embracing progress is realizing that we never really start from zero. We can get out of focus, fall into setbacks or be in a routine rut, but what we learn from those experiences will ultimately prop us back up and be essential as we walk through progress again when we're ready. It may take a while to accept this, but here's what helped us slowly realize this and have been keeping in our routines for the rainy and sunny days:

Accepting the highs and lows

The podcast that helped us: How to work through a creative rut by NPR.

Checking in with yourself is always one step in ensuring we're in focus, but how often do we do that when we're not? Do we allow ourselves not to think of what to do next when we're in a rut? This podcast labels us as 'creatives' who use our innate creativity in whatever way we see fit. Their advice? Accepting that creating (in analogy, going through progress) is a cycle with 'high-pressure points and low-pressure points.' While we have control over what we can and can't do, we will not have unlimited energy to go through high points without rest, wandering, and destimulation.

Manifesting & materializing

The activity that made us realize: Creating the environment we want to go with our manifestations.

What we feel inside should eventually reflect what's on the outside, but we're making sure that it goes hand in hand. When we started feeling out of focus despite manifesting our goals, we realized that we also have to allow ourselves to create a space where we can actualize these goals. We uncovered this by slowly making sure we surround ourselves with energy, tools, or people that encourages our manifestations to turn into reality. May it be a new home for your work table to induce the feeling of change or rediscovering ways to connect for that feeling of going through progress together, it surely helps keep us on track with our big picture.

Taking note

The go-to we've been loving: Notion or our favorite progress tracker.

We've shared our love for physically or digitally taking note of what we've been grateful for, what we want to achieve, or what we're doing to get us there. Our choice for everything to keep us on track (and in between), Notion, help us do it our way in a personalizable, convenient way when we feel we can opt-out of pen and paper!
