This season is a time for celebrations. We attribute them with the traditions we've upheld with loved ones, the routines we've created in preparation for the festivities, and the glistening hope to celebrate what's to come.
It gives us something to look forward to and something we can look back on. The festive season, along with milestones like birthdays and anniversaries, helps us memorialize years' worth of moments and memories. These are the type of celebrations we share with other people and, in doing so, create more memories we'd keep for the books. We then wondered if we love celebrating them so much, how come we don't extend that spirit for other, typically more mundane milestones?
Perhaps we can point to how milestones have to be huge, or it should be months or years in waiting before we find it worth celebrating. Our pitch? Welcoming in the new festive for a lifelong stretch of celebrations we could look forward to. Here are a few on the top of our minds:
Starting fresh after breaking away from what's holding you down
The mist of saying goodbye to what you've realized is holding you down may be one that's hard to come out of, so give yourself a toast for deciding to say goodbye to what no longer works for you or aligns with you.
Signing up for something entirely new to you
Taking your first ever dance class (even as a self-proclaimed owner of two left feet) or signing up to volunteer in a cause you've been passionate about for years is a feat! Stepping out of your comfort zone takes courage that's sometimes not so easy to muster up.
Owning your first piece of furniture
Whether it's the couch kept under your saved posts or that chair you bought after shifting to a work-from-home situation, owning your first piece of furniture is worth celebrating as it's your investment in creating an environment you'd love to live in.
Being a new (or present!) mom or mom-figure
Being a mother figure holds no bounds or limits, and could look different for anyone. If you're celebrating your first bundle of joy, ruminating over your experience as a mother for years, or simply having over-pouring joy being seen as a mother figure in your chosen family, go beyond the yearly celebration. You deserve it!
Making the first step for the better you
Sometimes, we could get so stuck in our ways (understandably so!) without even realizing they box us in a corner far from our potential to be even better. Knowing better and deciding to move in action is one thing we could say cheers to (even set mark our calendars for.)
Make the commitment and allow yourself to make the first steps for the better you, all year round. When it comes to skincare— whether you have oily, pigmented, rough skin texture or simply need a lift to bring out your best features, there's a facial treatment designed exactly, expertly to make the first step easier. Celebrate your good skin and your commitment to better at a skin place that does just the same.
Rekindling healthy friendships from the past
We celebrate new friendships and relationships that we cherish, and we could do the same when reconnecting with people from the past— especially if they're healthy, nurturing ones! The past might not always be pretty or a place we should stay in for long, but the people we've made genuine connections with are worth keeping. Share a piece of cake with the ones you've rekindled connections with for renewed beginnings in a different setting!
The start of being able to incorporate movement more regularly
Whether that's following through with specific regimens or consistently taking more walks whenever you can squeeze one in, including movement more frequently is a way to celebrate what you and your body could do. Don't let strict definitions stop you from patting yourself in the back!
Mid-year celebrations for your furry loved ones
For when you can't wait until their birthdays or your adopted furry one doesn't have a clear year-marker, we won't stop anyone from celebrating the life of ones that stay by our side.
Redefine festive and create your celebrations. The journey to progress is more beautiful when we find ways to add color to it our way, in the way we want it. Which celebrations do you want to add to the list?
