How Wellness Defines What We Think of Progress

When we think of wellness, our first thoughts go to face masks, bath bombs, and scented candles. It's the day of unwinding, sometimes that one night we finally decide to take a break, a glass of our favorite drink in hand. We determine when we deserve it without realizing it should be a mainstay— and more than what scratches the surface of it.

So many industries push wellness associating it with things that could make the most out of your self-care days. That can give us a confusing view of the definition of wellness. It ties it down to things we can purchase. While it's true that the thrill of having these items give us the comfort we need (trust us!), our most significant assignment is having a deeper connection with wellness that goes beyond them. According to the Global Wellness Institute, wellness is an "active pursuit" of lifestyles, choices, and actions that build your overall health.

Much like what we've learned so far about progress, wellness is a process. Multi-dimensional— touching on your physical, mental, social, environmental, spiritual, and emotional health. It's not an end-product, but the constant state of pursuing it in our daily lives. It's personal, and we may have different ways of approaching it. The most important thing is to learn what works for our lifestyles, making sure they're well incorporated to bring out our potential. Here's where you could start, based on what kind of Woman in Progress®️ you associate yourself with:

The Kick-Starter

Start with the spirit, Woman in Progress®️. Part of ensuring your wellness is being able to navigate your way through your intentions. You've already started by deciding you want to start today, so take the step further by keeping in mind why you started in the first place. Doing so keeps your personal North in view— lessening the chances of getting lost with things that don't contribute to our growth.

For The Goal-Getters

With a target goal in mind, there might be times you feel like you're alone on the road. Don't be afraid to connect! While every woman is different, you're sure to be able to find real, deep connections with people that boost you up (from like-minded people to people you never knew you could connect with!) Women in Progress®️ are not afraid to take your goal-getting self in, so make sure to find one where you're celebrated and embraced— your whole self and the woman you're about to be.

Try out:

having regular online check-ins-slash-socials with your best friends.

The Explorers

Dipping into new territory is exciting. It's a decision to step up your game and see where that step takes you. Doing so gives you a terrain of emotions to go through. Your step towards wellness? Make sure you constantly check in with yourself. Get real when you feel sad, tired, or worried, even when you know what you're doing is the right decision for yourself. Celebrate real joys and delights, don't deprive yourself of feeling it no matter where you are in your journey to new territory.

Try out:

a journal to write out your daily thoughts and feelings.

The Forward-Thinkers

It's in you to make the necessary steps today with the thought of the future, but don't forget to keep in touch with what's happening today. Doing so gives you more insight into how you could shape your future self by navigating your way through what's happening to you and what's around you. Start by connecting with what you do— what things happily take up your mental energy? Which ones take up more energy?

Try out:

dividing your tasks based on your daily energy levels.
