Going digital has been our first step towards wellness. It might be yours, too.

Going digital has given us opportunities to stay connected and have almost anything and everything at our fingertips.

With more time at home and the unstoppable shift to digital, our phones may have become both our portal for escape and the things that keep us productive. While we may have days that call for a complete digital detox to keep us sane in times of uncertainty, we might find that our small step towards wellness is housed in an app store, too.

We round up our three favorite apps that help us keep our wellness on track that not only proves how everything has become more convenient, but how we could also find the best and simple way to be better— if we have the right tools and how to use them in our own lifestyles. Here are our favorites so far:

Movement has been one of the few things that kept us going, and it's one that never has a time limit as to when you can start (again!) If you're looking for an app that could give you a push on where you can begin, then we heavily recommend this 5-in-1 app.

Sign up for the app, and you get five different ways to get going— from yoga to HIIT. Why do we love it? It gives you the option to customize based on how you're feeling that day. If you want to do yoga, you can choose from several practices, select the difficulty of the poses (some days, even if you've aced the tree pose, you have to take it slow), and even the kind of music you want to listen to while flowing. It also allows you to set your own goals for the week— easily letting you view a calendar of the days you got moving.

The highlights:

  • customizable practices

  • Sign up for one— get access to five different movements (including pre-natal yoga!)

Flo

As Women in Progress®️, we're no strangers to the effects of our menstruation cycle on how we deal with our daily tasks and lifestyle. Sometimes, this comes with symptoms that hinder us from working productively (or even working at all for women who experience the more extreme effects of menstruation.) With that, planning around our cycle might be one way to work with this natural process instead of having it control us. That is why we love Flo.

Not only does it help predict when your next period is about to arrive, but it also lets you understand how each day towards it could affect how you feel. It also allows you the practice of listening and observing your body as you take note of the changes you feel as you go through your cycle. You also get little bits of insight about what happens to your body with app insights, so not only do you develop a keen eye on yourself, but you get well informed about it, too.

The highlights:

  • Takes you through each day of your cycle and what to expect in terms of symptoms

  • Goal-setting: are you tracking your period or trying to plan around getting pregnant?

Balance

If you're looking for a meditation app that goes with you, this personalized-as-you-go app could be the one.

As you start, you choose between goals and prioritize them and see what it recommends to get you started on your meditation journey. From there, you answer three questions every meditation that will personalize your meditation journey as you go. We love that this also allows even the meditation spectator to give it a chance by encouraging and informing you about each skill you'll need to achieve your set goals. They also have themed meditations— ones for when you're going out on a walk or when you want to fall asleep!

The highlights:

  • personalized and keeps track of how you felt after your last meditation every session

  • access different practices based on your needs

Although we might not instantly think of keeping phones as your gateway to wellness, it's never wrong to seek the opportunity to get the tools we need to get there. Try one out for yourself and see where it takes you on your own journey to wellness.
