The right amount of discovered passion paired with the work it takes to build something from the ground up. This is what we loved about Woman in Progress®️, Sarah Policios’ journey so far. Take a peek through her own testament of what goes into the equation for life in progress.
Tell us something about yourself!
Hey! My name is Sarah. I run a jewelry brand (@luisajewellery) 24/7 with my twin sister, but I also work as a fashion stylist and social media manager.
My experience as an entrepreneur started back in college when I turned my thrift shopping hobby into a business. I found myself enjoying the process of taking photos, styling clothes & selling both online and offline, at bazaars where I got to interact with customers. Soon after, I did internships for a few magazines, a fashion designer, fashion stylist & retail company. From there, I realized how much I enjoyed styling so I went ahead & I pursued that. Since then, I've done editorials, tv shows, campaigns, mannequin styling and worked with a number of celebrities & creatives.
Back in 2018, while my twin sister & I were sourcing in the mall for a shoot, we realized that we couldn't find a jewelry brand that spoke to us. So we thought, why not create our own? Over the years, we've learned the ins & outs of running an online business, sold tens of thousands of pieces, met customers & suppliers turned friends & so much more. Sure, it hasn't been a walk in the park, but it definitely has been so fulfilling to build a brand from the ground up which I'm truly passionate about.
Where or which aspect of your life do you want to see progress in?
I started this year with the intention of investing more in my health and career. To eat better, be physically stronger, learn more digital marketing skills, expand my jewelry business, grow my creative portfolio & meet like-minded entrepreneurs. Also, my twin sister & I (@wearesamarah) are also looking into doing a podcast together soon!
Share with us your most recent, proudest win (big or small!)
My focus and drive since the year began have been incredible! I have big goals to achieve, and I'm quite proud of myself for ticking off a couple of things on my list already— from completing a couple of online courses to sticking to a workout routine & generating more streams of income.
Talk us through your favorite routine (day or night).
Ahh, I love the stillness of the morning. It's my favorite time of the day! I used to wake up early so I can witness the sun rising, but I haven't been able to do that anymore. I've been waking up around 8 or 9 AM these days since one of my clients is based in Germany so I finish work quite late. Once I'm up, I go straight to fixing my bed, meditating, going through my planner, and making my usual brunch— boiled eggs, sweet potatoes & green smoothie. I then proceed to working out for at least an hour, quickly reading the latest happenings or checking emails while eating, taking a bath, doing my skincare routine, and finally focusing on work.
On most days, I wake up feeling energized. On some days, I wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Whenever that happens, I give myself time to reflect, step out of the small picture and remember the big picture. I remind myself of how big goals start with small habits; how every day is one step closer to making my dreams come true. Also, I make sure to be more conscious of how I spend my time. I try to limit my social media consumption early in the day (non-work related) so I don't get distracted & I get to accomplish more things.
Just like one of her passions, curation becomes key when it comes to things that inspire and keep Sarah Policios going. See what she loves for:
