The pressure to be the absolute best is a feeling we’re all familiar with. We find ourselves struggling to keep up with the impossible standards society set up for us in different aspects of life. From the way we should look to what we should be achieving at a certain age in our life— it seems like we’re bound to follow one track with no space for detours.
We become too hard on ourselves and often unforgiving. Instead of being able to work on the different goals we have in life, we get paralyzed out of fear of not being able to achieve it at an instant and in the way society wants us to. Sometimes, we lose ourselves because of this, wondering if the ends really justify the means when the standards of perfection were never generous in the first place.
This is why we want to embrace progress over perfection. It’s our way of bidding goodbye to unfair standards and a way to acknowledge our conscious efforts to be better.
Here's why we think you should choose progress over perfection, too:
Our stories are unique.
Perfection doesn’t take our differences into consideration. When we shift our full attention to each others’ stories, we’ll notice that we don’t have the same beginnings, current situations, and aspirations in mind.
Choosing progress over perfection means you take all those factors into play in your journey. Your starting point will look way more different than the others’ and you’ll see that the way you take the road to the better you will be too.
We’ll realize there should be no race as we’ll walk through our paths at our own pace.
We’ll get to celebrate more.
Exposed every day to different stories of success, unfiltered beauty, and more, we often only get to see the end product and very little of what went behind the scenes. The result? An effortlessness that's sometimes a little misleading.
We get it, though. Sometimes we don’t see the steps we take to get there are just as important and beautiful. Often, we think it's not worth mentioning because it wasn't a pretty journey compared to what is expected. We think our efforts don’t count when we can’t see immediate, drastic changes but trust us when we say it does!
Our efforts towards progress make the big picture. Let's celebrate them more because it takes courage and conscious work— not to mention a lot of picking ourselves up and choosing to follow through despite our doubts!
Let’s toast on the way— not just at the end!
Kindness will overflow.
Imagine a community where people own their truths and celebrate their victories. The result is a collective that sees the beauty in diversity— a place to celebrate our different stories and journeys. A place where we could come together in trust and confidence of not being judged. A place where we could celebrate and inspire each other.
That, to us, is a place ran by pushing the chase to perfection aside for something where kindness could thrive.
We know very well that this isn't a rewire we could do in a snap. Embracing progress over perfection is a process in itself, but we're with you (literally!) as you go slowly but surely.
We'll see you in the kinder place!
